My first guitar was a cheap washburn, it was great, especially for beginners because the strings are really close to the fret board.
Now I have the Dean V-Coustic and it’s pretty awesome too, it has an electric hook up and everything, but I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners.

G Major was the first scale I learned.
You should hold the pick the same as you normally do, which is best to be the "proper" way, but it’s also preference.
Dunlop Jazz III XL picks are great for sweeping and stuff.

Epiphone has some good gear. I have played several of their basses and had no problems. Dean guitars are another option also. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help! I tried guitar for a while but I had to keep clipping my nails(I’m a girl) so it got old. So I switched to the piano and I can play and sing on it but I really like to sing and my voice goes better with the guitar so I’m going to pick it up again. I wonder how Dolly Parton plays with her nails? Your video was really helpful! Thanks
